Guest blogger: My2morrows

I have a wonderful guest blogger to introduce- Shannon from My2morrows.

My2morrows

I first met Shannon at the Clever Cookie School of Blog this September and got to meet personally at our blog graduation high noon tea. We connected straight away and even though we didn't chat as much as we wanted on the day, we stayed on as friends through the blog community.

About Shannon: She is a proud wife to an inspiring man and mum to two adorable kids. Loves tea (cheers to that) and is an animal lover. She writes about life, family and music. I love her Love Want Need lists.

I asked Shannon some questions ...

1. What inspired you to start your blog journey?

I started getting into blogs firstly as a reader, 5 years ago while I was on maternity leave with my first bub and loved the sense of community they created. My inspiration to start my own blog was the talented Chantelle from Fat mum slim via her ‘Letters to Lacey’. http://fatmumslim.com.au/category/letters-to-lacey/

I’d read them in tears, they were so beautifully written and I loved the idea of having those precious memories documented. It took me 5 years to work up the courage to actually publish my first post. Life happened, 2 babies in 2 years went by in the blink of an eye, and it was only after signing up to the Clever Cookie School of Blog after a few wines one night that I actually got serious about it and thought right… now is the time! my2morrows is a mix of kid stuff, my ‘love want need’ series and just life.

2. What's your favourite post that you've written?

Probably this one: The Circle of Life Part 2: Maddi's Daddy. Although it was hard to write, it was kinda healing too! http://my2morrows.com/2014/11/02/the-circle-of-life-part-2-maddis-daddy-2/
3. Give us a little about your background?

I'm a country girl in a city world! I was born and raised in coastal country South Australia and moved to the big smoke (Adelaide) after high school to study Marketing at Uni. After graduating I spent the year 2000 in the USA, travelling and working at a summer camp in Maine teaching sailing and kayaking. When I returned to Australia I moved to Sydney, got a job, met my now hubby and have called Sydney home for 14 years now. I've worked in a few different marketing/sponsorship/media roles, mostly in the Corporate world and these days I work part time in Marketing, spending as much time as I can with my2morrows.

4. What are three things you cannot live without?

My Family

Avocados

Organic Paw Paw ointment
5. Five famous people you would invite for dinner (deceased or/and alive).

Prince William & Kate - they just seem so down to earth and lovely

Prince Harry - cause he's the fun one!

Ryan Gosling - no words required

Dave Grohl from The Foo Fighters - cause I love a good Rock N Roll story and I'm sure he'd have a few
6. Most inspiring person.

My husband. He has a vision condition and is actually legally blind, yet he has such a positive outlook on life and works so hard for his family.

7. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you choose and why?

Besides beautiful Sydney... probably Hawaii. There's just something about the Aloha way of life.

8. What is one tradition your family has at Christmas?

We LOVE Christmas and every year my husband and I watch as many Christmas Movies as we can in the lead up to the big day. Our faves would be The classic Miracle on 34th Street, Love Actually and National Lampoons Christmas Vacation.

Now that we have little people, we've just started the Elf on the Shelf family tradition... so much fun. Our Elf, ‘Jingle’ is getting up to all kinds of mischief. We only have such a limited time until the kids find out the truth about Santa so we're making the most of this magical time!

9. What's on your Christmas list?

Oh so many things... just see my ‘Love Want Need’ series http://my2morrows.com/category/love-want-need/ but if I had to pick one thing... I'd say The Olympus OMD-D EM10 camera. It had me at 'built in Wifi'.

Shannon I totally agree on the Olympus camera. It's a want list for me too! And I'm a big fan of Dave Grohl too.

Guest Post: Krissy from Pretty Wee Things.

I welcome you my first blog guest post: Krissy from Pretty Wee Things. A blog about health, fashion and beauty and of course her little man!

Pretty Wee Things

Pretty Wee Things about me photo

The wonderful part of starting a blog is joining a community of other bloggers. We all completed an online course at The Clever Cookie School of Blog some months ago and throughout the 4 weeks we supported and encouraged each other, getting to know one another and reading each other's blog.

So it was through the school I met Krissy of Pretty Wee Things. A lovely mum of a little boy, newly married to a dashing man (you must check out her stunning wedding photos!) She completed a Bachelor of Science honours in Psychology and also a Makeup Artistry certificate. She is into health, fashion and beauty. Krissy has a some delicious recipes which are healthy and worth checking out too.

Let's get to know Krissy a bit more...

1. What inspired you to start your blog journey?

My son…not literally, but becoming a mum meant I had to somewhat change the way I was used to living (like endless shopping trips, super long showers, white clothing). I wanted to still feel like “me” while being the best mum I could be, so along came Pretty Wee Things. My blog is my space to share the things that still matter to me, like fashion and beauty and health (and my awesome little man), even if my “normal” has changed.

2. What is your favourite post you've written? (Link please)

I have to say that I LOVE seeing others enjoy my posts, so my favourite posts so far are probably the ones that seem to be enjoyed by most.  Our wedding day was a clear winner, but then who doesn’t like weddings!  And my healthy bliss balls have been a long-standing blog pleaser!  I always find people come back to that one!

3. Top three health tips for summer.

Stay hydrated with LOTS OF WATER!
Enjoy the summer fruit, it’s not bad for you!
Remember sunscreen (or better yet, buy a day cream that has SPF) and good quality sunglasses

4. What essentials do you carry in your bag?

My water bottle, always a lipstick (I love MAC hug-me at the moment), concealer (I’m using Rimmel), Elizabeth Arden 8 hour lip balm, my inhaler (asthma, kind of a massive essential), baby wipes and nappies.  These days my bag doubles as a baby bag!

5. Three make-up items you can't live without?

The Kit eyebrow gel pen in Dark Taupe, Kora Organics by Miranda Kerr tinted day cream, and Mascara!

6. What is one tradition your family has at Christmas time?

Growing up, our Santa always had a hole in his sack and would leave a trail of lollies wherever he had been.  I loved the excitement of waking up on Christmas morning and following the trail of candy to find our presents, or to see that he had visited our animals.  I absolutely will continue that tradition, although I may need to think of a healthy alternative to candy!  Any suggestions welcome!

7. What is on your Christmas list?

I haven’t even thought about myself for Christmas this year.  To be totally honest, I would love some new homeware…some cushions and a new giant entrance mirror!
Thanks for having me on Adore Re Mi!!!

Mother and Child

I love finding beautiful photography. It stirs something in you that brings out emotions. So powerful are these pictures we find, we can even do the unthinkable, a phone call to our love ones (because texting is too easy). And the first on our list to call- our mothers and/or grandmothers. The joy it brings to our mothers, grandmothers and great women alike is priceless and the smile they walk away with after the phone is hung up is pure delight.

So what is the most important thing a mother hopes for? As a mum myself, happiness. Seeing my three year old daughter being happy from discovering new things in life is joy.

Through the past years I collected some photos I found and pinned to my Pinterest boards here, ones which stirred my soft stop. Below is a collage of some of my favourite ones of mother and child embracing the moment of happiness, I hope it stirs your heart too.

Whether you celebrate Mother's Day or not, because everyday should be mother's day; you can't help but surprise them with a big hug or phone call and for those lucky mothers, breakfast in bed. So to all the mums, HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY for everyday, may you be cherished every bit.
